When to use Waitlists

We've hadsome of our users often ask us about how they can conver Waitlist attendees into Group session attendees.

To understand how to use waitlists vs other products, please review the below dialog :)

Hi everyone - How do I convert from waitlist to the group workshop? Do I need to create a new product as a group workshop, and copy paste all the details such as description and title from the waitlist to the main product, or is there a way to sort of easily convert the waitlist to the product? Thanks!

Deb

- You can create a waitlist for Anythjng (book launch, new course etc). So there isn’t programmatic way to convert a waitlist into just a group session (since each of these are individual product types) ..

- Ideally you’d use the waitlist to choose the people you want to invite to your “product” so they can then pay/book/buy the product … a lot of times you also want this to be a private product so only selected people can join in

Creator:

Is it better to start with waitlist for my workshop and then only after I have some people in it to invite them to the private workshop? Or is it the same to invite everyone directly to the workshop?
And also, if I choose the waitlist route, is one waitlist  for any of my workshop is enough or I need a waitlist for each?

Deb:

Here’s really why creators do Waitlists  :slightly_smiling_face:

UPSIDE:
  • excellent way to assess interest, get the word out, before you actually start to create ANY material. Its mostly a way to  create hype while buying you time.
  • excellent way to build up your email list for future marketing emails - independent of whether people actually sign up to the session.
Waitlists are a low-commitment way to get in front of your target audience, who you will engage, monetize in the future.
DOWNSIDE
Waitlist also delays the conversion cycle - aka  you got the client excited, but they may forget or lose interest by the time you have the product to purchase.SO…
  • If you want to optimize for immediate conversions - simply directly launch the workshop, and give yourself a good 2-3 weeks to build content for it.
  • Also give yourself 2-3 weeks to market it, run promos on it, coupon codes - the works.
  • Especially if you offer something paid
